Coronavirus terms and conditions

A minimum spend of £50 applies for all online orders (excluding delivery charge)

Due to the fast turnover of stock (particularly plants) on rare occasions we may have to offer you substitutions with your order.

DELIVERY 

We take the safety of our staff and customers seriously and as such we have amended our delivery terms while social distancing measures need to be in place. 

All deliveries will be contactless. We offer front of house, curb side delivery only. The driver will take a photo of the delivery as confirmation.

We operate this service within an approximate radius of 12 miles. Delivery charges vary by postcode and will be charged at the rates outlined in the table below. £5 will be added for ‘two man’ deliveries. 

Demand for delivery is very high at the moment so we cannot guarantee delivery times. We will stay in regular contact and please know that we are working on fulfilling your order as quickly as possible.

We always send a friendly Smith’s delivery driver. We do not use third party couriers. 

Bulk Bag Deliveries

In addition to the above the following applies:

Bulk bags of topsoil and aggregate will be delivered by our small tipper van and tipped.

Tipping Notes:

  • We always execute a `clean tip` on all bulk bags.  This means the top of the bag is tied so spillage on tipping is minimal.
  • We can only tip where it is possible (and safe) to reverse our van.  We cannot tip over walls/hedges/obstacles etc.  Please plan an appropriate area for tipping before ordering.
  • The legal weight limit on our van restricts us to one bulk bag per trip.  Multiple trips will incur further delivery charges.

CLICK AND COLLECT

If you place an order online for collection we endeavour to have your order ready the following day. You will be emailed with a 2 hour collection slot. If you cannot collect your online order within this window please inform us via email or phone call at least 2 hours before the collection window opens. 

Please bring one of the following items to collect your order in store:

  • Order number and confirmation email (printed or on a mobile device)
  • Credit or debit card with the name of the person who placed the order
  • Photographic ID

Returns and Refunds

If you change your mind or realise you’ve not quite ordered the right product we can help! 

COVID-19 updates for our returns policy: 

We are extending our 28 day returns policy to ’28 days after we are allowed to re-open’ for in-store returns. 

For items bought in-store: We will be happy to issue a full refund for any non-perishable* item within 28 days of purchase, returned to store with a receipt, providing it is in its original condition and packaging.

For Items bought online: We will be happy to issue a full refund for any non-perishable* item ordered online. You can return the product in-store with your order number (found in our emails to you). For bulky items we will endeavour to collect from you when our delivery drivers are in your area (this may incur an extra charge).

If you do not have the receipt or online order number as a proof of purchase then we will usually investigate the purchase ourselves.  If we are able to establish proof of purchase, then we may issue a credit note.  This is subject to the item being returned within 28 days from purchase and in its original packaging/condition.  Unfortunately we cannot issue refunds of any kind without a receipt or order number.

If there is a problem with your delivery 

All our deliveries are carried out by Smith’s staff. We do not use third party couriers. If you notice any issues with your delivery as it arrives please notify the member of staff delivering and we will aim to rectify it on the spot. For issues found after our driver has left please contact us via email with photos of the faulty item to explain the issue within 7 days of receipt.

*Perishable Items

Plants and turf are considered perishable items and cannot be returned unless faulty. Due to the nature of living things the plants you receive may look slightly different from those pictured. Plants vary drastically throughout the year and may have grown, been pruned, deadheaded or have finished flowering between the photos being taken and the plant arriving with you. Minor transit damage may occur such as the odd snapped twig or crushed leaf, this will not affect the plants ability to thrive.
