Deliveries & Returns

We are more than happy to deliver any item you buy in our garden centre.  We operate this service within an approximate radius of 12 miles.  To see if we can deliver to you please call us on 01895 233844.  A delivery charge determined by postcode will apply to all deliveries.  £5 will be added for ‘two man’ deliveries.

We can usually deliver quickly and we will always send a friendly delivery driver.  Our usual delivery days are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  We do operate a Sunday only service on some postcodes due to traffic and distance.

Please note:  If you require our driver to leave the public road to access your property, we require you to sign an indemnity form at the time of booking.

Bulk Bag Deliveries

Bulk bags of topsoil and aggregate will be delivered by our small tipper van and tipped.

Tipping Notes:

  • We always execute a `clean tip` on all bulk bags.  This means the top of the bag is tied so spillage on tipping is minimal.
  • We can only tip where it is possible (and safe) to reverse our van to.  We cannot tip over walls/hedges/obstacles etc.  Please plan an appropriate area for tipping before ordering.
  • The legal weight limit on our van restricts us to one bulk bag per trip.  Multiple trips will incur further delivery charges.
  • Call us on 01895 233844 for more info

Returns and Refunds

Smith’s Garden Centre will be happy to issue a full refund for any item returned with a receipt, providing it is in its original condition and packaging.  In addition the return must be within 28 days from purchase.

If you do not have the receipt as a proof of purchase then we will usually investigate the purchase ourselves.  If we are able to establish proof of purchase, then we may issue a credit note.  This is subject to the item being returned within 28 days from purchase and in its original packaging/condition.  Unfortunately we cannot issue refunds of any kind without a receipt.

Notes on Returns:
– We cannot accept returns on turf in any circumstances.
– We cannot accept returns on plants which have not been watered or cared for properly.
– If a bulk item is delivered and then needs to be returned, an additional pick-up charge may be applied.  In addition a re-stocking charge may be applied.

If you have any questions regarding delivery please call 01895 233844 or Contact Us

Always great revisit this place. It's pricey but the staff are exceptionally great and always there to genuinely help you. Cafe is great and you can certainly fritter away hours here. Well worth a visit even if you are just window shopping!

I've just discovered this place. Fabulous nursery with quality plants and wonderful plant advisers who are all so helpful and knowledgeable. I was equally impressed with the stylish gift shop which has a great variety of goods and furniture. I look forward to a return visit soon. Very impressed!!

Smiths is very local to me and one of the largest garden centres within a ten minute drive of my house and there are several to choose from. I can't say if it is the cheapest but there is plenty to look at including garden statues and some quirky garden ornaments. There is also a small restaurant on site which serves good food. Plenty of parking.

Single handily the best garden centre I've been to. Took up gardening as a hobby when me and the wife bought our first house locally to Smiths. First year wasted a fortune at Homebase then a was put onto Smiths by a mate who use to run it. It turns out the owner (tall guy who whistles - Jon Petitfer) likes to employ locals who all clearly enjoy working there. Probably the size of 3 footballs easy. Happily spend a fortune in there, support your local businesses.

Good selection of plants of all types, very many ornaments and a stupendous selection of garden sheds/furniture! The staff are friendly too. In the back of the main shop there is Bertram's, serving a good selection of food but I particularly enjoy their breakfast; inside, outside under cover or alfresco.

Other garden centres and D.I.Y stores offer similar types of products that are sometimes a little cheaper. Smiths has far superior quality goods that are only marginally more expensive and in some cases cheaper. The main difference is the goods from Smiths will outlast cheaper rivals many times over. Knowledge of staff is excellent too, you try asking a wet behind the ears 16 year old assistant in B&Q what the best plant for a pot in a shady area would be and they would most likely not have a clue.
